A Boon To Mankind

boon on australia dayEvery good knock has to come to an end. We will fight on to bring Boon back through reverse boonjaneering, but in the mean time here are some submitted photos from Tom and Matt to remind us of the good times....

If you have something you'd like to add to the Boon shrine, send them in. I'll put them up when I can (and while I've got space!). And if you are feeling particularly sentimental, why not follow along with Trappers and build an Appreciation Cabinet so Talking Boony can spend the rest of his days in a prized position in the pool room.

  4. Well maybe next season VB can bring out a special 52 can carton they can call “the boon” a homage to this 5’2″ piss tank with a talking boonie that counts down the amount of stubbies to go to even near the record of a thirsty Tasmanian. R-I-P BOONIE 2006

  7. Boony spoke again!
At about 15:23 Pacific Summer Time (Vancouver) on Monday May 08, Boony woke up and rattled off the following in a five or six-minute burst:
    “Where’s my beer?”
    “How’s that beer going?”
“How’s that beer going?”, then almost immediately
    “You’re joking, aren’t ya?”
Then “How’s that beer going?” 7 times, at about 4-5 second intervals… then a pause…
Then “I could bowl better than that.”
“Is it time for a beer yet?”
“Is it time for a beer yet?”
“Is it time for a beer yet?”
“I could bowl better than that”
“Is it time for a beer yet?”
“Is it time for a beer yet?”
“Is it time for a beer yet?”
He took a few minutes off here, marshalling his strength to ask:
    “When’s the drinks break?”
“Show us a replay of that”
“When’s the drinks break?” 7 times at short intervals, then
    “Quack, quack, quack”
    “When’s the drinks break?”
    “When’s the drinks break?”
“Show us a replay of that”
    “When’s the drinks break?”
    “When’s the drinks break?” (pause)
    “When’s the drinks break?”
    “When’s the drinks break?” (pause)
    “When’s the drinks break?”
    “When’s the drinks break?” (pause)
    …and he’s still going, as of 15:38.
Maybe the battery’s running down, or his clock has reset/looped and he’s just warming up for another ‘summer’!
Beauty, I haven’t dragged his stumpy little arse 15,000kms to be a dumb paperweight after all!

  9. My brilliant English hubby located a Boonie for me (we live in the UK). And bless him, he just wont shut up.

He seems to favour the middle of the night for his outbursts (I guess he’s still on Aussie time?), and has woken us up a few times with requets for beer.

We can’t figure out what sets him off, it does seem to be quite random, though he had a good burst a couple of days ago while I was blending cocktails. Maybe he could just smell the booze…

Regardless, he is a much loved addition to the household.
